Apple Sunday

On Sunday Tiffany and I canned up a storm.

This time it was 50 lbs of apples. It was tempting to get even more than that. The branches of the trees were sagging with the weight of apples and I knew that what we didn't pick would go to waste.

It was a lot of work and the yield was huge. We ended up with 20 quarts and 9 pints of beautiful cinammony apple pie filling.

That's enough for about 49 apple pies.

Too bad neither of us even likes apple pie.

If you have some to spare, we can use this filling to make Dad's thanksgiving apple pie. Perfect!

I don't know Em, I've only got enough for 49 pies. You pick the pattern for the top and we'll make it together chica.

Welcome to the wonderful world of canning. When we moved one time, I threw away 80 quarts of stuff that my family didn't want to eat....plums. Plums. Free plums. Hail-pitted apricots. But the best was a jar of my SIL's pickles. I picked it up and my finger went right through the lid! Imagine what those babies could have done with our insides!!! But enough about canning...I can't WAIT to hear the funny crazy stories that you aren't allowed to share about your new practice! I KNOW nutso things happen...spill the beans.

Sheesh Megs, you've got enough apples to feed a small country. I'm so impressed with your canning skills. Seriously, wow!
