Spring Dress

My girl wouldn't stop bugging me to make her a dress for Spring. She wanted something girly and structured, in a rosy color. When the nagging wouldn't stop, I finally gave in and finished her dress just in time for Easter.

I used the same base pattern as her wool dress, but again I altered it like crazy. This little jumper sports a ruffly front. Like the wool dress it's fully lined, but this time I had a better idea of what I was doing and didn't end up with any raw edges showing.

Instead of buttons all the way down the back I just placed them on the bodice back and constructed a placket (also a first!) The placket, though not perfect, was a great learning experience and something I hope to improve on.

And since babies tend to grow quickly, there's an extra inch in the hem and the buttons can be moved over, so hopefully this dress will last through Summer. I'm afraid these dresses aren't just a passing fancy. I'm currently working on two more and have a gazillion brewing in my head. If only I felt this passionately about exercise. Or housecleaning.
